Skillitzi has often been credited with being “The Father of Australian Glass”. His art aspiration was initiated fifty years ago in 1961 at age 13 via his solo use electric kiln home studio. He graduated from the National Art School Sydney in 1966 and gained a Masters degree in Fine Art, University of Massachusetts USA in 1970. An uninterrupted half centry of glass firing has ensued. Stephen has continually redrawn the boundaries in both composition and technique. A master of glass art and glass sculpture, he uses many techniques. Colour and design are his hallmarks. He has had over 100 group and solo shows worldwide. He is represented in all national, state and most regional museums in Australia and overseas, including 7 USA museums. A highly collectable artist with his own individual style of expression.
